Entwined

Updated: Jan 9, 2019

In a pine forest I experimented weaving using the trees.

This came in 3 stages

Stage 1 weaving

Using 6 balls of wool 7 trees and 3 participants we weaved at random intertwining the strands with the trees creating a mesh.

Stage 2 experiencing

Once we had completed our task we walked around and through it experiencing the space in may ways. The weaving created pathways and connections through the trees usually unseen.

Stage 3 Disassembly

The final stage was to remove the weave. By unhooking and gathering the weaving together we created an object like a french knit. This had been combined with pieces of the forest to create a memory of its creation.

The second experiment in the forest was to work with a piece of free crocheting I brought to the forest. This I used to dress a pine tree creating a scab or parasitical piece of the forest.

Please see the video in the video player it has been edited in a weaving style.
