Concept 1:
Neon light explores the intersection between colour and light. As this concept has developed, however, there has been a second focus on natural light because all light is colour and all colours are light.
When we imagine a future, it is lit in neon films like Bladerunner, over the black rainbow and ex machina see a future lit with neon light, big screens and colour. Generation YZ could be the generation which create this reality. Smart phones, AI and plastic surgery shows a generation which live in an artificial world. Perhaps this could be reflected in the artificial light we choose to use.
Concept 2:
Crochet is a historical craft with its origins in net making. Generation YZ have begun to move away from traditional work place consequently, in the EU cultural and creative industries employ 12 million people 7.5% of the workforce.
Crochet allows for soft forms to be created which could expand and contract, unravel and weave around forms and the landscape.
How update craft?

Personal Agenda:
Due to human activity around 869 species forced in to the extinction in the past 500 years. 91% of plants face extinction due to degradation of their habitat. Our ecosystem is more complex than any city we create yet we are destroying it. Buildings generate 25% of manmade pollution, what if we can change that? How can we give buildings a softer touch on the landscape and save the ecosystem they occupy? The Anthropocene shows that we now have the ability to completely change the environment we live in but who gave us permission to.

SITE: Ses Salinas but reaching out across the whole island
Methodology:
The form is created using freeformed crochet which can be stretched and distorted to be formed with the island. This is explored through making and photography.
Light is explored through photography and film experiments using physical models however as the scale increases this will be better explored in a digital environment.

Relevance to GENERATION YZ
The natural world is in trouble Generation YZ are very aware of their impact on the world. This building will aim to encourage the ecology of Ibiza to ensure its survival and maintain its presence.
In addition, this building aims to explore the new lighting of Generation YZ and a craft lead form mirroring their return to traditional crafts
